Question with regards to the “nazi” tag. Since it’s one of the hidden tags and we don’t want to leave stuff accidentally unhidden, I wanted clarification as to what would fall under it. Obviously anything involving Aryanne would receive the tag, but I’m curious in regards to what World War II-related images should receive it.

For example, should it be applied to any images that involve the Nazi German flag or Swastika, such as this image by Brony-Works? I’m also assuming any images that involve actual real-life Nazis such as Hitler, Himmler, other Nazi leadership, and members of the SS/Waffen-SS should automatically receive the tag due to simple historical reality. But what about images related to the Wehrmacht or other military services? Should they also receive the tag, even though historically members may or may not have been actual members of the Nazi party? What about images that have aircraft or other military vehicles that have the Swastika emblem?

I think Wehrmacht images should be tagged Nazi, just like you’d tag a Red Army image with “Communism”, even though we don’t know the personal beliefs of all those soldiers. There’s very specific circumstances where say, a Panzer tank with no swastika on it and way outside the context of WW2 might not need the Nazi tag, but pretty much all images with Nazi symbols/weapons should have it.

Maelstrom.
Regarding those “controversial” tags, I’d think it’s probably safer (although not entirely desirable) to err on the inclusive side and incorporate anything that may have reason to be associated with the primary concept, even tangentially. As someone who has their filter set to show basically everything, I shall trust my own sense of aloof neutrality to be tolerant of stuff that do cross my personal limits.

It’s safer to err on the side of caution, when new filters are made I need to make special filters for EU and other locations where such things may very well need to be filtered. So caution is warranted there.

Okay, so the consensus is that “nazi” should be tagged on all World War II-related images that focus on German or German-esque ponifications or other depictions. I’ve gone ahead and done so - though it feels really wrong to add the “nazi” tag on a picture referencing Erwin Rommel considering that man’s actual history.

Him and Robert E. Lee prove that good men, for whatever reason, do not always fight for good causes.

It’s humbling, and a warning.

Never allow your belief in personal virtue blind you to the possibility what you fight for isn’t right, even if you have a damn good reason for doing it.
