I just thought about how the MCU inadvertently slammed the door on a corner of DC’s world. Gorilla Grodd can’t really be developed in this political climate. And since he’s one of The Flash’s most interesting and dangerous villains, the ability to develop The Flash as a character is hamstrung. I’m mainly talking about Warner Media’s attempt to right the DCEU, but they can’t do much with Grodd in DC’s animated films or live-action shows either. The REEEtards on Twitter would throw a tantrum now.

If you’re not in California, I personally recommend a multi-load revolver like a Taurus Raging Judge 513 (not necessarily the Raging Judge as they’re expensive as hell, this is just an example) for versatility; 410 shotshells are great for home defense without the need of a longarm (revolvers are much easier to clean, store, and retrieve), and .454 casull are great for getting used to the heft of the weapon (plus they’re just damned fun) and should you ever decide to go hunting mid+ game.
 
If you’re in California or another state/region with “sawed-off shotgun laws” or just prefer the “intimidation factor” of a longarm, the Mossberg 500 All-Purpose 12 Gauge would do well. The unmistakable sound of a pump-action being primed is sometimes all you need, and if you learn how to finger the release you can prime it while unloaded to achieve that end if in a low-risk (homeless getting into your shed, etc.) scenario.

Southeast here. There was a fully stocked gun cabinet in every bedroom of my grandparents’ house, and two in their personal bedroom.
