There’s a Stargate SG-1 strategy game coming out and I’m fucking vibrating with hype right now. It’s the kind of thing I used to say “you know what would be cool if they made it?”

It’s set to release early next year I believe. It looks a bit low budget and knowing those devs it won’t have the biggest budget ever behind it, but they’ll make something decent if their last game is anything to go by.

It’s not possible. Everything is made to pander to China now. Even something that called itself novel accurate would strip out Heinlein’s message. It would just be a made-for-China popcorn muncher with power armor, and ironically would be a direct repudiation of Heinlein.

Dude, China could collapse into the sea tomorrow and it still wouldn’t change a damn thing. Fucking Hollywood completely shapes public perception of culture, I’m still annoyed at how many people draw mythological depictions of Thor as blonde thanks to the fucking MCU. XP
 
That’s why I am not thrilled at all that Halo is getting a TV series made of it. I know they’re gonna fuck it up and when fans like me complain about the fuckups, the reaction to the backlash will be “It’s a divisive show, only hardcore megafans of Halo will enjoy it…”

Because of Hollywood. China might be preventing any sort of attempt to fix it, but the root problem is that Hollywood has no respect for the source material of their products. Not only are they creativity vampires, even worse…they think they can do your job better then you. Despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

unless im mixing books, didnt starship troopers start with having exosuit or mech infantry being drop podded into the surface from orbit by being shot from a cannon alongside many decoy drop pods (because it turns out that those can be shot like we can shoot missiles irl) to capture some city and that the bugs come much much later?  
or am i once again mixing my sci fi books because at this point i dont even know what is where or when

the only “drop pod infantry” fps experience i can remember is from planetside 2 of all things, where a squad leader can drop the entire squad via individual drop pods on a point

Y’know what, looking closer I actually don’t know. The developer tag on Steam leads to the publisher’s catalogue for some reason and I thought that the developer had done something else. My bad for not paying attention.

Because companies are dumb and think their fans don’t want the things that they’re fans of. And also because they’re forever in pursuit of that elusive & vague “broader audience” in a very Ahab-esque way.

Battlefield 3 was not where the series started to decline in full. That goes to Battlefield 4 IMO.
