What is it, 50 people have half the money in the entire world. Not 50% of people, not 1%, not even 1% of 1%, 50 individual humans have HALF OF ALL THE MONEY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.

One of the many things I hate about billionaires is that most of their “money” isn’t even real. Most of this “money” is in the stock market, which is completely distorted by speculation, yet everyone treats numbers on ledgers as if they’re equivalent to cash. A lot of people seem to assume that every billionaire owns a Scrooge McDuck vault full of gold or something. Why do we allow ourselves to be lorded over by paper tigers?

Maybe instead of redistributing their “money,” we should just delete it from existence to reduce the money supply so that the money we already possess would be worth more in comparision… gradually, of course, so we can have deflation without a deflationary spiral. I want to have $5 footlongs and $2 gas again.

That won’t work. The items common people buy are very different than the items ultra-rich buy. If you reduce the supply of money in such a targeted way, purchasing power would be unaffected for commodities like food and gas.

Think of it in supply and demand terms. If Jeff Bezos makes a million times the amount of money a normal person does, that doesn’t mean he eats a million times as much. It means he more likely consumes rarer foods costing more. If he gets baked, there isn’t now a million people worth of fried chicken to freely hand out, just one man worth of caviar.

Eliminating the rich may have an impact on land prices and may eventually have a minor impact on consumer goods prices, if the labor for high production value luxury items is redirected to consumer goods, but it isn’t a fix to inflation.

That’s why the effect of the US government printing trillions to give to banks for decades was dwarfed by handing out a few trillion directly to the general public. It’s one case if the money exists on paper, it’s another much worse case if you give everyone cash. Suddenly everyone had increased money supply to buy the constant goods supply, so inflation and shortages followed. Then they started WWIII to excuse the monetary collapse and made it worse in the process.

There are tons of good reasons to kill the rich, but inflation isn’t one of them. If you want to reduce inflation, reduce the consumers of goods you consume.

Happy transploitation month everybody!

An entire month set up to celebrate people who stubbornly believe biology itself is wrong and can be dismissed out of hand like a pseudoscience and that they know better than anybody, yet “gender is a social construct and fluid and subject to change based entirely on mood” so they don’t even know which bathroom they’re supposed to use until that very minute.

An entire month for companies to slap rainbow and pride color logos on their products for a convenient marketing gimmick just like Christmas, to virtue signal that they supports the gay/trans community, but they refuse to show that same support overseas in regions where the same people would be killed for the crime of existing.

An entire month to tell these people that they’re “special” for no other reason than the simple fact that they exist.

I’m going to go put myself in a coma so I don’t have to watch people clamoring for greater and greater levels of self-marginalization to prove that their the specialist of special to exist. Someone wake me up in July when it’s all over and the rainbow flags get taken down.

Some dude passed out right next to me at work for seemingly no reason. And just as I was yawning my head off and complaining how uneventful work is.

White pride my ass. It has nothing to do with being white, it’s just basic common sense and being fed up with unrestrained stupidity. I’m tired of celebrating mental illness like it’s something to be proud of and emulated.

@ponypony221
No it isn’t. You go to a pride event and try to call for straight pride or white pride you’ll quickly find out that you’re the enemy and told that pride month is only for the gay/trans crowd.

Straight and white people don’t really “need” pride. They haven’t faced adversity the way minorities have. The whole pride thing may be seen as selfish or whatever, but it’s just one month out of twelve.
Personally I don’t care about self identity or sexuality or any of that so I’m fine with pride month. It doesn’t affect me.

Oh that’s bullshit, especially in this day and age where every minority is being celebrated and supported by the media the way they are. They’ve got all the special legal protections that white people don’t enjoy. It’s gotten to the point the trans community faces no repercussions from demanding straight people date them and have sex with them to prove they’re not transphobic.

Straight white people don’t “need” pride? I disagree. You’ve got plenty of folks saying “kill all whites” and teaching how white people are born racist and can never be anything but racist no matter what they do. It’s open season on white people, they most certainly need pride and to be reminded that they aren’t evil simply because they’re melanin-deficient.

Have you really seen twitter and the state it’s in? Have you seen the various studios bashing people for being racist/transphobic/istaphobic for not diversity quota characters who’re written boringly and one-dimensionally?

It doesn’t matter if it’s one month or just one day, it’s still taking time out of the year and setting it aside for a specific group and holding them to be more special than everyone else. If there’s going to be a pride month for all the gay and transgender sort of people, a month for blacks, a month for women, where exactly is the month for straight people? Where exactly is the month for white people? Are they simply not special enough?

Either celebrate everyone just for existing, or don’t celebrate anyone. Stop showing preferential treatment for some groups and disdain for others.

I still find pride month harmless. White and straight people are a majority in North America, so no, they aren’t considered “special” enough to warrant a monthly celebration. I mean, there are various awareness months that apply to white and straight people, but they’re not really marketable or interesting in the way Pride month is.

@Dex Stewart
Marketable? You mean exploitable. Because that’s all it really is, exploitation. Specifically exploitation of mentally ill individuals who can’t function in the real world because basic rudeness and being disagreed with makes them depressed and suicidal.

Any group that claims being “misgendered” and “dead-named” makes them depressed is too fragile to survive and doesn’t deserve celebration like some sort of national treasure. Anyone who’s ever contemplating killing themselves from being told “you’re wrong” or “I don’t agree with your opinion” is just setting themselves up to be a professional victim.

Maybe I’m just too chill to really put that much thought into it. My biggest concern at the moment is to save up enough to buy a little studio.

You obviously missed the time the state of California made misgendering someone a crime that could result in jail time. The state literally said that disagreeing with someone and their opinion was something that could constitute a criminal act that could be punished.

That’s a pretty silly law. Continued referring to someone by any name or pronoun they say they don’t like I guess could be petty bullying, but not a crime.
Amagan

@Dex Stewart
Which would be pretty common sense. But oh no, the state of California decided it was a crime. Thankfully the supreme court stepped in and told them unequivocally that, no, misgendering is not a crime and that criminalizing it violated the first amendment.

In Canada, though, there’s no such legal protection against misgendering someone. The situation is far worse up there. Take the case of Robert Hoogland, a father who’s been jailed for contempt of court by misgendering his own daughter by refusing to refer to her as a boy, despite the courts ordering him to.

Making the matter all the worse is the school Hoogland’s daughter was attending for the 7th grade transitioned her without the parent’s knowledge or consent. The courts sided with the school over the parents, and told them point-blank that if they didn’t support their daughter transitioning to a boy, if they tried to dissuade her in any way, they would be found guilty of family violence and child abuse.
