My printer has just started making weird noises and keeps acting like it has a paper jam when it doesn’t.

It’s also fairly old as well. I do have Canon printer in waiting when this one finally dies.

I was actually mistaken. That wasn’t some asshole neighbor, those were official government fireworks that were officially set off.  

My Dad tried to install the new printer tonight and it doesn’t work with my computer.

I have never had a printer that reliably worked with any computer. Neither network nor direct connection.

We can’t even send anything to print. Apparently it’s not compatible with Windows 7. Also the CD it came with never started up on computer. Also when trying to download the drivers for it all I got was an error message.

I tested to see if my CD Rom drive was broken but it isn’t it loads a different CD that isn’t for the printer just fine but CD for the Printer doesn’t even register in the CD Rom driver.

What make and model printer is it? And which version of Windows 7 are you running? Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

Canon PIXMA TR4500. Windows 7 Professional. It’s 32 bit.

Was Service Pack 1 ever installed onto that Windows installation? https://sg.canon/en/support/0100961803 has a driver set for 32 bit Windows 7 SP1.

Okay. I am able to download and save a file named win-tr4500-1_1-n_mcd.exe from that page. (Yes, it is from Canon Singapore. I don’t think the printer cares where it is)

Sorry. Got ahead of myself. I can download that file. Are you able to download it? You said there was an error. Was the error when you try to download it, or when you install it, or…? And what is the error message?
