Well what do you know, it’s real
Researchers at the Izmir-based university ‘discovered that high-level noise – such as that frequently found in discos – causes homosexuality in mice and deafness among pigs,’ the Milliyet newspaper said Thursday.

I don’t know, I question the process used for this.
The paper did not offer any explanation as to how mice were judged resistant to deafness or why pigs kept their sexual identities.

I want that job. Listening to music all day and all you have to do is periodically scribble some bullshit like “the pigs are not detectably gayer”? What a racket.

“Mellified man” was a legendary medicinal substance in 16th century China. People, when nearing the end of their lives, would willingly submit themselves by bathing in, and subsisting off, nothing more than honey. Once they died due to this diet, their bodies were then sealed in a coffin filled with honey and stored for a century.

There were possibly other practices like this, such as the Assyrians embalming their dead with honey. Even Alexander the Great’s body was reportedly preserved in a sarcophagus filled with it.

Honey actually has amazingly good antibacterial properties.

HOWEVER the bacteria that causes botulism can exist on the surface as a spore.

That’s why infants should never be fed it. They simple cannot fight it off.

@Acres
Honey has mediocre antibacterial properties, the trick is that it’s too much sugar so non-sporemaking bacteria die to osmosis pulling the water out. Salt requires much lower concentration to do the same thing.

And infants have too cold bodies that allow clostridium botulinum to survive; adults run too hot for the bacteria to procreate.

I didn’t know anything about that show. I’ve heard of preserving meat in honey, so maybe that is what inspired it.

@Barhandar
I wonder if someone could dig up the research paper? I honestly may try it and if I find it out will report back.

Great cat. And I’d like to imagine the “reading a racial slur” provokes “Wicked Witch of the West getting HYDRATED” kind of reaction from the sensitive snowflake who beheld the horrible terrible no good very bad NEE WORD; regrettably, that’s not what actually happens, or the world would be a lot better.

Mile marker 69 in Washington has a problem with getting stolen all the time.

To fix this, the sign has been changed to 68.9. Problem is some are now stealing these signs out of spite.
