They could have included it, and just bury it in the bonus features.
The Family Fun Edition of Anastasia did that with Bartok.

Bartok was a fun little movie though and Ghostbusters 2016 was a poorly recieved mess. Interesting note, the article I read about this situation seemed to consider Ghostbusters 2016 a misunderstood film that was treated badly because of it’s female lead cast. It even said it was “review bombed”.
Is that a new buzz term? Whenever something I like fails, I can say it was “review bombed”?

Power Rangers 2017 was ruined by trolls review bombing it! It definitely wasn’t marketing holding back. It also wasn’t the suit design. And it most certainly wasn’t the gloomy atmosphere, awkward tone and uneven focus on character over action in a superhero movie.

Ghostbusters 2016 shouldn’t be there because it isn’t part of the series, it’s a reboot. They wanted to throw the original series out the window, they can deal with not being part of the original series collection.

I was glad we got a serious toned movie that was clearly a personal vision from the creators. I don’t like that it “had” to be a remake/reboot, but I think they still handled that as well as they could have, and put their own spin on the lore. I thought the actors were all great, especially the Rangers themselves. Elizabeth Banks was a different but fun Rita, and I would’ve liked to see how they handled the character in sequels. The effects were a bit of a letdown, but they’re on par with any other superhero movie. The suits looked good in motion, not so much in stills. The mid credits teaser was pretty cool, and it’s a shame it’ll probably never be followed up on.

Interesting. I wonder if the reason it didn’t do too well was precisely because of it’s “serious” tone, with everyone expecting any Power Rangers property to be kid friendly.

I also don’t recall it being marketed very well, or any of the related merchandise being widespread. While I wasn’t collecting toys quite as much as I had at that point, I do recall seeing in stores the only merch related to the movie being the Alpha 5 figure and the Goldar toy (which looked nothing like the original Goldar).

A problem PR has especially now is tone. The show right now is stuck in an even more juvenile place than even Mighty Morphin. Meanwhile, nearly everything else is targeted more for adults. The comic, the video game, the web series Hyperforce, even the toy line.
The general public audiences could never see PR past Mighty Morphin, and very often from people I hear “that was the only good one”.
The show actually matured and was a fairly serious superhero show for quite some time in the 90’s into the early 2000’s. After Disney’s acquisition they produced Ninja Storm, it was a lighthearted series, but didn’t feel too far off from the tone of what came before. Most Disney seasons were very balanced with comedy and drama. When Saban got the series back Samurai felt like a return to the style Wild Force had. Serious, but a kid’s idea of serious. Megaforce had plenty unintentional humor, and cringe intentional humor. Dino Charge after that tried to be more like the 90’s post-mmpr shows, but it fell apart in its second half. Since then the series seems content to stay extremely juvenile.

Which is especially ironic when they didn’t adapt Toqger for being “too childish”.

The Matrix Resurrections only pulled in $22 million in its extended five-day opening period. Spider-Man has crossed a billion dollars.

Even ignoring “wokeshit,” the bigger question to me is what could you even do with the Matrix property at this point? I mean, they thing collapsed into total silliness with Revolutions, so I don’t get why they even felt they could revisit it.

Theoretically? Wachowski brothers, and before they allegedly went bonkers (which happened before trooning out) could’ve remade The Matrix as intended: the story told in the first movie with the length of all three combined.

I never watched any of the Matrix movies. They just didn’t look interesting to me. So this is pretty much the extent of my knowledge on them.

Which to me, says that you can’t do anything new with the Matrix, if it means you’re just going to retell the first movie but stretched out into three movies a la The Hobbitt.

The first film was genuinely groundbreaking from a visual and film-making persprective, in addition to being a really neat sci-fi concept that blended cyberpunk with urban noir. The sequels were just silly though, and by the end of the third one everyone who still really liked the first film just tried to pretend the sequels didn’t exist.

You asked for what can be done with it, not what new can be done with it. All the concepts were either told by the first movie, or by the Animatrix.

Honestly, Wachowskis should have taken the red pill. But they went for blue.

Paul Feig and Leslie Jones have bitched long enough and loud enough that Sony is including Ghostbusters 2016 in the Ultimate Collection set in the form of a digital code.

I hate Hollywood’s obsession with multiverses. It’s always a transparent vehicle for de-canonizing old material. I’m certain that the only reason MCU phase 4 is all about multiverses is so the first three phases can be erased.

Well I mean, the Loki show already ruined everything even remotely redeemable about MCU content anyway. Since apparently none of the characters you’ve seen or loved have made any choices up till now, it’s all been the will of KANG, baby! X3

The DCEU is going to kill off Affleck and Cavill and erase Snyder’s movies from canon using their Flashpoint movie. Supergirl and Batgirl will replace them in the new DCEU canon.

Indiana Jones was going to introduce multiverse junk to erase Harrison Ford from the series and make it so some girl was the ‘real’ Indiana Jones the whole time.

Terminator Genysis introduced the multiverse in their first attempt to kill and replace John Conner, because the studio has a pathological vendetta against him.

Star Wars is introducing the multiverse in the form of the veil of the Force. Favreau’s camp is angling to de-canonize the sequel trilogies and move forward. Kennedy’s faction is trying to destroy the entire Star Wars franchise, and reboot all of it in the Milky Way, with no Force. It sounds like a crappy Star Trek Discovery knockoff.

They’re looking to kill him off, so they can replace him with his gay son, but they had to get this in first.
