@Dex Stewart
Because the U.S. has positive rights, meaning that as long as something isn’t explicitly illegal, it’s legal. And law lags behind society. States can’t legislate things that legislators aren’t aware of, and they become aware of things that need to be illegalized only when people start doing them. No legislative session in the past had foreseen that people would surgically change the sex of children, so they didn’t think to make a law specifically against it.
@Zaknel
I’m all for gender affirming surgery, but kids shouldn’t have that decision made for them. Once they’re an adult, then they should be able to go right ahead and make whatever choice they want.
Also ironic since trans adults often can barely get the resources they need.
I’m not. We should treat it like any other psychosis-induced self-harm.
Maybe with an exemption clause for people who are just into weird shit, because it would be unfair to discriminate when there are much weirder fetishes about.
I just want everyone to know that should the worst happen to me, I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year…and to my friends, I pray that you find the strength to go on without me.
