Godzilla Thread

I just saw Lizard VS Monke. Was very good.

If you’d like some context for the setting of Godzilla vs Kong, I’d recommend reading these articles as a primer. I find that it’s more interesting to consume media while being able to see the puzzle pieces that were used to create it.

The Monsterverse and Pacific Rim are starting to feel like DLC skins of each other. The Titans come from the Hollow Earth through the anti-gravity field, which is difficult for humans to get through. The Kaiju come from the Anteverse through the Breach, which is difficult for humans to get through. All they have to do is say the Anteverse is inside the Earth and the settings are linked.

I was seeing pics of Barugon everywhere. I was like, what until I realized, oh, right, rainbow.

Considering that they’re trying to phase out the boring human drama and lean into fun b-movie monster fights, I think they should bring Jamiroquai back for the next Monsterverse movie.

Toho’s next Godzilla movie is scheduled to release in Japan this November, and elsewhere in December. It’s not going to be Shin Godzilla 2. Instead, it sounds like it’ll be a new telling of Godzilla’s origin, with an eye to creating a setting that can expand. I guess there will be two Monsterverses going forward, if this one is successful.
