Granny Smith, in her elder years, developed swayback after she lost most of her muscle from old age. It tended to cause discomfort and pain, so she depended heavily on her rocking chair. She did her best to keep up with her grandfoals (and great-grandfoals, when they were born), but tired out so much faster than before.
