the basic concept of this AU is that major protagonist roles are swapped with characters which are antagonists originally (and vice versa), whether just episode antagonists or outright villains!
 
in this case, because Discord is now a pony and one of the mane 6 … Rarity has the honor of being this universe’s resident chaos demigod in his stead! (i thought this choice was a lot more interesting than going with Fluttershy or Pinkie Pie in this role!)
 
taking inspiration (ha) from Rarity’s portrayal in Inspiration Manifestation, the draconequus Rarity believes there is beauty in chaos – and that she must be doing everycreature a favor by spreading what she considers beauty wherever she goes. if ponies don’t appreciate her antics, they’re just being ungrateful, clearly. also – have you seen her in a crown? can you blame her for dabbling a bit in world domination as well?
 
eventually, she is redeemed through an unlikely friendship with the Element of Empathy, Sunset Saffron.
 
she has the head of a pony, a serpentine body, a manticore horn, a deer antler, wings from a blueberry fruit bat and a phoenix, a dragon tail, and legs from a white tiger, a hippogriff, a goat, and a lizard.

i’ve still been pretty sick lately, both physically and mental health wise ): but it did help to go back to a much smaller canvas, even though it’s a shame that this is a lot sloppier because of it
