@Officer Hotpants
First try the setting in my edit and see if that does it for you.
For underclocking, that iunno. It would be software-based, and I’m a fanatical AMD hater; I’m extremely unfamiliar with their software solutions, but there’s probably a universal dash somewhere to try that.
For a no-network total driver reinstall, follow the following (this assumes you’re running a modern Windows machine, please correct me if I’m wrong):
1: Download DDU (current version as of this post is
18.0.2.8)
2: Unpack DDU wherever you like and forget about it for now (C:\DDU\ works just as well as dumping it into your downloads folder, I’ve done both).
3: Download the
most recent Radeon software for your OS (this link is pre-tuned to 5700 XT line).
4: Disconnect your PC from your network. If using a wireless dongle, disconnect and remove the dongle; if wired just unplug.
5: This step is up to your preference. If you want, reboot into safe mode. I personally haven’t found the need to, but it just makes some feel better when DDU screams at you about being in safe mode.
6: Run DDU from wherever you’ve unpacked it.
7: There are two drop boxes on the right of the DDU window: set “–select device type–” to GPU and “–select device–” to AMD (if it didn’t automatically).
8: Hit “Clean and restart (Highly recommended)”.
9: Go make a sammich.
10: After sammich time, DDU should have restarted your PC. If Windows brings up any prompts to look for drivers, cancel them.
11: Go to the driver package you downloaded in step #3 and install it. If prompted, select “advanced install” followed by “clean install” if given the option.
12: Once done, restart and reconnect to your network.
13: ???
14: PROFIT
Remember this step-by-step. Thanks to how shitty driver packages are from both AMD and Nvidia, and Microsoft’s unfortunate habit of pushing their iterations of the official drivers if they see fit, you should follow this pattern any time you need to update video drivers.
